Hannah Babble
First installment...
Today at the store I was looking at shorts (in prep for Hawaii) and Hannah was sitting in the cart. A lady walked by and Hannah shouted "Hi!". Which made the lady smile and laugh. With such encouragement Hannah then proceeded to shout, "Hi! Hi! Hi!" repeatedly.
When I told her it was time for bed and to tell Matthias goodnight she did the sign for "bed" on Matthias' head. Then I took her to Daddy and she hugged him, kissed him on the lips, and said "love you." Seriously the cutest and most extravagant thing I've seen from her. It was adorable. Then she started signing "bed" all over his head/face.
Love this girl!
P.S. I know she is waiting to walk until I leave her for a week.

Lair O' the Bear
Last week we enjoyed the warm weather by driving to the mountains where it was cold.
Really though it wasn't too cold, warmer than it's been lately. The boys were so excited to go hiking especially after hearing the name of the park we were heading to. James carried the CamelBak the whole way for all of us to have water. Matthias carried his Spiderman backpack packed with his Spiderman costume so he could put it on and scare the bear. I packed Hannah in the sling and snacks in a bag.
The hike was really fun and we went with several friends from around here. We probably only went about 1.5 miles. Half the trail was covered in ice/snow, one-fourth in sucking mud, one-fourth only slightly damp. Even with a few slick parts the boys did really well. They each collected a rock--James' was about 2 lbs and he added it to the CamelBak.
Hannah fell asleep at the very end which was perfect because then she was rested enough for us all to stay for lunch and more playing in the mountains.

Hot Cross Buns
Reading an Easter book with the boys we found out Hot Cross Buns are an Easter treat. So we made some today. Almost 4 hours from start to finish, but most of that was rising time. They were quite good, but with no currants or candied peel. Because I don't happen to have either of those items on hand. We even sang.

Sunshine
Saturday we had a great Easter Bunny Day, Sunday yummy ham and conference. Today we headed to the zoo after nap time and had a great afternoon.
I got out of bed the last 3 days at 7:27, 8:36, and 7:57. Lovely, lovely. Hannah does not wake up at 5 am like some of my children (read Matthias). The boys are finally old enough to (mostly) leave us alone in the morning.
I have so much sleep to catch up on from the last 3 years...

Close Call
During the Easter program last Sunday the primary kids sang a couple of songs. I'm the primary pianist so I played. After they were done I was playing softly in the background as the walked back down to sit again. I looked up to make sure all the kids were down before I stopped.
They were all gone but one.
Matthias was busy pushing the stool over behind the microphone. I jumped up and grabbed him just as he was stepping up on the stool. I'm glad none of us found out what he had in mind once he got up there...
Then I went to sit with the choir and they were all laughing and whispering, "that was close" since no one else in the chapel could really even see what had happened since when Matthias was bent over pushing he was completely hidden by the stand.

Entry Table by T&K
Taylor and I built this table. I did a lot of the cutting, he did a lot of the screwing. He also did all the sanding and staining. We built it all on President's Day over a month ago, but then everyone was sick for 4 weeks, so it just got sanded and stained last week. The design is similar to a Pottery Barn Table costing $499...ours was $50! It was a lot of fun to work together on a project and make something beautiful for our home!
