Gardens by the Bay

We met some friends from church down by Gardens by the Bay. This is basically our first big adventure so it was an exciting ride on the MRT. We got to see the Super Trees and also the Marina Bay Sands Hotel which the kids were really excited about there's a boat that's on top of three hotels.

Then we met up with the people we knew at the splash pad. It is a giant splash pad and there's a huge playground with slides in a giant tree house and some bridges. 

It was a time of fun. We ended up walking to the wrong MRT when we are done so it took for ever and we were all super tired. Hannah found this stick that she was really excited about but I wouldn't letter take it on the mrt so she had me take a picture with it.

Toa Payoh City Park

This is a park a couple mrt stops from our flat. We all thought it was beautiful and fun. The bridges and plants, the ponds and waterfall. We went swimming at the community pool nearby first and then wandered through the park as we walked back toward the mrt to head home.

First Sunday

The church building is about a 15 minute walk from our apartment. It has four floors and different wards meet on different floors.

James in front of our apartment. We live on the second floor so you can see on if the balconies here. Every room has its own balcony. 

Saturday

Hyrum had a fever so he and Taylor stayed home. The kids and I walked along Orchard Road and watched the street performers and ate some ice cream from the stands. After I got mrt cards for the kids we rode to Little India to explore. The kids played at a park right outside the mrt. Then we headed grocery shopping at Sheng Siong. Afterwards we trudged to the bus stop with 9 bags between us and only got on the wrong bus once and then headed home. Everyone was so tired at dinner that night--not quite time adjusted yet.

Layover in Korea

They had these little cultural spots set up where foreigners could go and do authentic Korean art. At 1 am.

Also they had a parade with the Korean royalties like the queen and the princess. Just people dressed up in the traditional costumes. 

Plus the really cool playground the kids played on. 

The Flights

We drove to Houston on Monday morning and stayed with our friends the Hales. On Tuesday morning Jimmy dropped us off at the airport. The kids had a ton of fun running in the hallway we waited for plane.

Our first flight was to Korea so we had 15 hours on the plane. All the kids are really excited because they would get to play video games and watch movies all day. Everyone did really well and Hyrum actually took his regular nap and went to sleep at night. The plane was pretty empty so at one point I counted we had about 12 seats between the five of us so everyone was able to lay down pretty well.

Matthias I think slept for about two hours and spend the rest of the time playing video games. He even made friends with a Korean boy that was traveling and he came back and say by us and they played together.

I thought everyone would be totally tired at the Korean airport since our layover was 1 am to 4 am Texas time. But we found a little playground and the kids just played the whole time and were really crazy. 

The second plane ride I was just so beat, I slept and Hyrum zonked out. Hannah tried to sleep and James also slept. Matthias kept playing video games. 

And we're off...
