Happy Birthday to Me.

The night before I laid in bed with James talking about being 31 and what he thought he would be doing at that age. Only to wake up the next morning to birthday cards from the kids and a sign wishing me a happy 32nd birthday. Whoops. Totally a year older than I was thinking. Darn it.

Despite my miscalculations my birthday was great. I slept in and woke up to an email from Elizabeth telling me she was pregnant! We went swimming in the morning because that's my favorite. It was great to hang with the Beverly's for one of our last times together. Jenna was so sweet to make brownies.

The kids and I watched High School Musical while Taylor baked a cake and Hyrum took a nap. After cake and our $25 half gallon of ice cream we took the mrt to a cool mall at Jurong East near the university where Taylor is working for the summer. The mall has these random hallways connecting different parts and we walked through the Chinese section. Lots of yummy food and random stalls. I bought a small purse to take on my trip to Australia.

Then we took a double decker bus (hooray!) to campus for a dinner party Taylor's group had that evening. After taking a taxi ride home and getting the kids to bed I packed for Australia and slept for a couple hours before taking off for the airport! Such a great day.

We Love Toa Payoh

Back to our favorite mrt stop: Toa Payoh. We visited the library, found some yummy lychees, played at the park, met Tay for dinner, and then wandered through the city park. I love this stop because it's not really touristy and it has everything--library, swimming pool, parks, cheap groceries, etc.

Hospital in Singapore

Saturday evening we stayed in to watch a movie and eat popcorn, soda, and oreos since Hyrum wasn't feeling well:

The evening did not go well. Here is a picture of our ER visit in Singapore.

This is not how Hyrum looked on the ambulance ride:

Aquarium

Today we went to the Singapore Aquarium which is huge and amazing. It is on Sentosa island so the kids and I rode the mrt down to Habor Front and then walked across the boardwalk. It was a beautiful (and hot, humid) walk. So fun to wander along with the kids.

After getting to Sentosa we saw this cool cave which leads to the entrance of Universal Studios. Then walked along a display of giant decorated eggs.

The actual aquarium was really cool. There are a bunch of displays of different Asian countries sea faring histories and a giant boat. Also some pirate exhibit.

After that we went through the tank areas and there were tons and tons of little ones, but about 7 huge fish tanks. 1 was enormous...like as huge as forever. The kids seriously explored all around it for almost an hour. Lots of really neat fish were swimming through it and there was a little tunnel/cave off to one side.

All the exhibits were really neat and the kids and I enjoyed the trip thoroughly. So glad we went and it was definitely worth the $150 to get in I would say. Then I of course bought everyone a souvenir because it was such a cool place and we loved it.

After that we walked through the Sentosa area for a bit and stopped in the Hershey's store for James of course. Then we slowly made our way back home. Super fun day!

Rainbow Loom & Food

There was a fun rainbow loom party at the church. Hyrum had a great time eating all the strawberries and the other kids made dozens of bracelets.

James has been wanting to try frog so here is our pot of it. Kind of chewy chicken flavor. And one of our favorites Matthias and Hannah are eating--fried carrot cake. Kind of an omelet with turnip type vegetables in it.
