11th Anniversary

Taylor and I celebrated our 11 year anniversary in Cambodia. After the longest dinner wait of all time we put the kids to bed and headed out to the main market. We got foot massages for $1 and found these awesome like churro shaped ice cream goodness. Then just wandered around the shops a little and picked up some dolls for Hannah. Also some bowls for our coin collection since Cambodia doesn't even have coins we wanted the bowl to be from there. They only accept American dollars but will give you change in Cambodian bills which are pretty worthless. And we found Pete on this outing...Hyrum's beloved monkey that he sleeps with every night. Love my Taylor!

Cambodian Food

A random meal in Cambodia. We loved the Khmer food, it was delicious. And these Mango shakes are AMAZING. Mmmm. Also pics from our last dinner there...it was our anniversary so Taylor and I were going to go into town and Kathy and Bryan were planning to stay at the hotel with the kids. So we thought we would just have a "quick" dinner at the hotel that night. Ha. It literally took 90 minutes for our food to be served. Pretty sure they bought the ingredients after we ordered. The kids got really antsy and starting playing dress up with the napkins. When it finally did arrive though it was delicious. But it made for a late start to our night out.

War Museum Cambodia

After the silk farm we stopped at one of the war museums. It was really sad to see all the old equipment and shells and mines. The "museum" was basically just a large field with old war vehicles and paths to walk through. There were also shelves full of old bombs and guns and mines. Really crude, but the boys especially found it all very intriguing. So sad to hear about what a terrible war it was and that people are still being killed and injured from all the mines that are throughout rural Cambodia.

Angkor Silk Farm

Tuesday we went out to a silk farm which was really fun. The drive out on tuk tuks was of course amazing. Learning the process of making silk was interesting and the people were beautiful. The women working there were so nice and our tour guide was great. The kids loved seeing the different silk. At the end of the tour is a small museum with some information about silk through the history of Cambodia. Hannah really liked the dress on display made from silk worms. Hyrum totally knocked over one of those pillars with monster faces on top. I thought we had destroyed their museum but the tour guide was lovely and stood it back up and just said it was fine. We left right after that. =] I bought a beautiful coral colored scarf. It was a great start to our anniversary!

Fish Massage

While we were in Cambodia we wanted to try the "fish massage" places that are in a lot of the southeast Asia countries. There were dozens of different tanks along the main road so after dinner on Monday night we paid our $1 for ten minutes and stuck our feet in.

It was pretty crazy. The bigger fish actually kind of hurt a little when they nibble the dead skin off, but the little fish just tickle. The kids had a blast. And some pictures of Matthias and Hyrum looking at souvenirs.
