Updates

I know I promised the birth story. I spent 30 minutes typing it up on the lap top...I can't find it. Been lost to cyberspace. So you can all keep waiting until I feel like typing it again or Taylor can locate it. Sorry!

Meanwhile Hannah slept 5 1/2 hours in a row last night and she is the cutest, best baby ever!

It would be best if Hannah slept in our room. (me: why?) Because we are the best big brothers.

When Hannah grows up she is going to be a beautiful princess.

During bedtime stories when Hannah needed to eat Matthias went to get some more stories and I could hear him muttering all the way up the stairs, "Baby no need eat. No eat." When I told him I could read while Hannah was nursing he was decided it was fine for her to eat.

And you thought she was cute before. Check her out in pink. Who knew babies were so cute in pink?

Hannah Mae Harvey

(Make sure you turn on your sound for the full effect!)

Obviously as you can see she is the cutest thing in the world. I will type a full "birth story" soon, but for now I will say last night was the worst experience of my life highlighted by some of the most amazing moments I have ever been a part of. And I did it. I made it all the way with no medication, no iv, intermittent monitoring, and eating whatever I felt like (which happened to be one jello and two crackers, but hey.)
Total was about 10 hours labor, six in the hospital, but I'm giving those details later. Right now we're just oogling at what a beautiful baby I have!

Despite my best efforts she was born on February 20th and not the 19th. She made her debut at 12:30 am (it was still the 19th in California...). Weighing in at a hefty 8 lbs 10 oz. A full pound bigger than Matthias. I knew she'd be big. She has dark hair which will probably fall out soon. I have yet to see her eyes...she's an amazing sleeper.

Meeting her brothers was so much fun. I couldn't wait for the boys to come in and they were ecstatic! Matthias was especially SO happy. He kept saying, "Me big brother. Hannah." It was adorable! Then he would just shout her name over and over. "Hannah. Hannah! Hannah." They wanted to touch all of her and were so wonderful.

She's beautiful and we are so happy!

Clever Boy

For the last couple weeks Matthias will wake up in the morning (anytime between 4:30 and 6:00 am) and bring us a diaper and wipe...or at least stand at the door holding one if it's been locked. I've thought how odd that is, but can you really refuse a two year old wanting his diaper changed?

Finally the other day it dawned on me what was happening...

We generally lock the boys' door at night or Matthias will come out and wander around the house at crazy hours. We've found him on the counter, stove, our medicine cabinet, etc. Clearly it is safer to keep him in the bedroom. However, James obviously has to get out to use the bathroom so if he needs to go he'll just knock on the door and we let him out to go potty. Matthias doesn't have this luxury and just gets stuck in there until morning.

Isn't my two year old so clever? More so than me. He figured out the way to escape the room...using the potty. Hence the diaper each morning. And it worked for him every morning when I would let him out to change his diaper.

What a smart little boy.

Still Waiting

Wouldn't you want to come to this cute and inviting space? I know the curtain is hideous, but other than that...isn't it tempting? Apparently Hannah Mae is not convinced. Maybe tomorrow?

My grandmother slept in this cradle. We got it about three years ago, but stripping it of the pink lead paint, sanding, refinishing, staining, reconstructing etc turned out to be hours and hours of work. And cost probably more than our crib when all was said and done. But Taylor did an amazing job don't you think? I think it's beautiful.

We told the boys this morning that whoever prayed had to pray for Hannah to come. James volunteered..."We want Hannah to come today. Bless Mom to have a big day with Hannah. Bless her to do a good job."
