What I Love About Hyrum

So Hyrum is at that awesome fun stage of toddler. Which is hilarious and entertaining and exhausting. He is learning so quickly and moving a lot quicker. :)

He makes the most hilarious duck quacking noise. We try to show him pictures of as many ducks as we can find.

Basically any animal is automatically dubbed a dog and he signs dog vigorously while "uh uh uh uh" ing at us to make sure we all see.

He did recently start signing bear so now they aren't all dogs.

Hyrum is still a massive daddy's boy. Taylor spoke on Sunday and I had to stand in the hall so Hy wouldn't try to get on the stand. When we go to the Y I drop him off. He doesn't even care if Tay is asleep so long as he is by him.

His spoken words are dad, Hannah, hello, mom, papa, love you, dog, choo choo, boo. And our personal favorite "ta-da!" Which he does constantly while flinging objects, such as rugs, in the air.

Hy claps any time he hears the word good. As in he must have done a good job at something, he usually does. He claps for himself after he unloads the silverware from the dishwasher.

Hyrum has lots of signs which is fun. But most of them look like dog or more. He actually signs dog a lot and then realizes he is trying to say something else so he changes to the right sign. He does dog, bear, hat, all done, bath, brush teeth, more, fish, eat, binkie, blanket, night night, shoes, train, cookie, music, bird, bib, fan, light, swim, milk, hot, Jesus. And more I can't think of right now.

He loves, loves music. It can get him to stop crying. He dances like a mad man.

Hy loves reading books and pretty much any time you sit down he'll come with a book. He has his favorites and will make you read the same page over and over again. James and Matthias read to him as well and I just find that so sweet.

Because he doesn't say or sign potty instead he just makes a grunting noise when he sees a picture of a toilet.

Hyrum recently decided sticking his face in the water at bath time is the funniest thing ever. He laughs and laughs. He is such a ham.

Anytime he hears the distinct ringing sound of FaceTime he comes running. He wants to be right in the camera with no one else allowed he pushes the rest if us out and just grins like a nut.

He is still really loud about screaming at the top of his lungs until he gets what he is after...almost always food. I think he learned to be heard around here you have to make yourself heard.

Looks like I could go on forever. Hyrum is full of character and bursting with excitement. Love our little guy.

Birthday Girl

Seriously 5 looks so much older than 4. Just the last couple days I catch myself wondering how she got to be such a little girl. She is looking very grown up.

Her birthday was full of lots of fun. Swimming, watching Frozen at the movie theater, dinner at our favorite Vespaio, cupcakes with friends. Lots of FaceTime, building Legos, and playing with my little ponies, mermaid doll, pokemon cards, and a new blender for he kitchen.

Taylor had jury duty which only lasted until 10 so we got him most all the day!

Mathews Elementary

James and Matthias switched to our local elementary school since the 2 hours a day in the car wasn't working for me and Hyrum. Also we wanted them to make friends that live by us.

The school here is well rated and we have been impressed. Both the boys teachers have been wonderful. I am  happy with what they are learning and the challenge level. And they boys have had fun with all the extras that weren't offered consistently at the 4 hour school...art, music, computer, recess, lunch. Matthias loves school lunch. Haha.

Here is an assembly done by 1st grade and James' class on his birthday actually. It was an Asian heritage assembly.

Last day at Chaparral Star Academy.

You've Had A Birthday!

James is 9.

I have been a mom for a long time. We were watching home videos of the kids when they were little the other day. Some from when James was a tiny baby. Seems so long ago and I hardly remember that stage. Seems like I will never forget this one. All the ups and downs, the joy and the frustration of it all. But I'm sure it will fade too. Life is crazy.

And here are James' birthday pictures. He had a great day. Love that boy of mine.

Hannah Teaches Kindergarten

They go to school for 29 hours a day.

My 2nd oldest wears armor to preschool so she doesn't get hurt.

We don't have any math today because I brought my babies to school.

I'm milking my babies.

Home Again Home Again

Jiggety jig.

So coming home from our fabulous trip to Utah was very exciting. We got back to Texas Tuesday night, but we started flying Monday morning only to get to Denver at 11 am and find out our flight to Austin was cancelled so we spent all day Monday in the Denver airport finding out that we couldn't get a flight until Thursday! Then waiting for them to pull our luggage and carseats so we could rent a car and just drive the 15 hours home. So we drove 3.5 hours Monday night and then 12 on Tuesday after spending a horrendous night (we were only stopped for 8 hrs total) in a Motel 6 with Hyrum screaming, Matthias wetting the bed twice (he was on the floor), and James and Hannah arguing over who had the most blanket and who kept touching who. Haha. It was an amazing trip home.

All made possible by our new iPhones to map us, show us the nearest red box locations, and where to find some what edible food.
