James' Tactics for Calming Matt

So James really likes to help Matt stop crying and he has several tactics for doing this. The most popular is sticking his (James') finger in Matt's mouth sideways so Matt can suck on it. Another time I found him attempting to hold Matt's mouth closed while Matt was screaming. But my favorite is the attempt to pacify with food.

One time Matt was crying and James went over by him and he stopped, so I glanced over and Matthias was licking a grape James was holding by his mouth. Another time James succesfully got Matt to stop crying so I went to investigate and Matthias had a cracker sticking out of his mouth. Needless to say we have had several talks about what Matthias can eat (nothing). However, James was once again attempting to feed Matt this morning...just sugar crystals this time.

Matthias' perception of the world must be so different then James' at this age because I certainly never stuck my face right in James' and growled at him in the mornings to wake him up, nor did I drag him across the floor by the leg of his pants. This must contribute to the difference between first and second children.
