I receive weekly emails from BabyCenter about what my child 'should' be doing. (Meaning Matthias). This past week I received the following email for my 22 month-old: Week 1.
"Your toddler can probably hop off the bottom step of a staircase by throwing one foot forward and letting the other follow. But true jumping, where both feet leave the ground at the same time and then land squarely, is a skill that requires excellent balance and may take a few more months to master. You can help her practice two-footed jumping by putting some pillows on the floor and letting her leap onto them from something low, like a child-size footstool."
Taylor and I got a good laugh from this one.
If you remember a recent post of The Underwear Shirt Guys you will clearly notice that Matthias has no problem with jumping. I also offer this video from a month or so ago. Large hope chest, child-size footstool. Same difference. Right?

Sugar & Spice & Everything Nice
Here are some adorable pictures of Hannah. Isn't she cute?

I am overjoyed, thrilled, ecstatic to be having a girl. I wanted two boys to begin with so that worked out well, but I am ready for a girl. My little Hannah Mae.
But I have to admit that I am a little scared. Everyone talks about how cute girl clothes are, but when I went shopping I kept looking at all the cute boy clothes and had to remind myself I wasn't buying for them. I think little boy clothes are super adorable and lots of fun to buy. But I'm pretty non-frills. My wardrobe consists of three colors (black, brown, and white)...maybe red if I'm feeling crazy. I guess I just need to immerse myself in pink and ruffles, then I won't be able to stop.
Also I had a hard time finding cute summer stuff (3-9 mo for Hannah) that was modest. I have never encountered that with my boys. So that will be something new and probably annoying. I guess I will just need a large stack of white onsies on hand. Does Shade clothing make under tees for babies? =]
Plus boys are rough and tough. I find moms with girls staring at my boys' antics in terror and hyperventilating. And I think, What? Are they doing something they shouldn't? That doesn't look nearly as dangerous as what they came up with yesterday...
And of course the screeching. The high pitched yelling for no reason or for a simple tap. So much screaming and drama.
I'm sure Hannah will be a tom-boy. Right?

Growing
May I start this post by saying nap time is a really lousy time for the garbage truck to make his rounds. Moving on.
I thought y'all might like to see my growing tummy since some of you still claim I don't even look pregnant. I look pregnant. I promise. I tried doing every four weeks, but moving kind of threw out week 12. I completely forgot. Which is too bad since I think the biggest change happened between weeks 12 and 16. But what can you do. So I am posting the two closest pics of me to week 12 that I have, one at week 10 and one at week 14.
Week 4
Week 8
Week 10
Week 14
Week 16
Week 21 (which was yesterday)

Ruffles and Tights
Okay, I really can't wait for y'all to vote...I've been all over craigslist, etsy, etc. But I've only visited two actual stores so far. Like Taylor says, "You have four whole months." Like I say, "To buy every cute thing I see." =]

Huge Sigh of Relief
Done.
The surgery, procedure, dental work, whatever you want to call it...I called it nerve racking for a poor mother...is over and done. James is happy and healthy and has four shiny silver teeth. In the back. The front ones are all beautiful and white.
Please brush your children's teeth. Twice a day. And floss. And hope you don't have excessively poor enamel to pass on through your genes.
James ended up with four crowns/pulpotomies and only one root canal (they were estimating two). Then filling of several cavities. He had general anesthesia and was in surgery for almost two hours.
He was so cute and wonderful about everything. His surgery was scheduled for 2 pm which meant no food after 6 am. Therefore, no food today. He was allowed a bowl of Jello before 10 am. I was really worried he would be grumpy about it, but he only cried once. He asked to eat about 20 times though. But we made it.
At the Denver Children's Hospital (wonderful, wonderful place) he was happy and smiley and all the nurses said how cute and silly he was. He kept asking if we were done and if he could eat and if he could get dressed again. Since we had to see three nurses, the anesthesiologist, and the dentist before surgery he thought we should be done after all that hullabaloo.
When he went back for his gas he was making this funny sniffing at the mask before it started coming through and everyone thought he was really goofy. I was so impressed with how brave he was when they had him lay down and put a strap on him. My beautiful little angel did amazing!
In the recovery room his eyes popped open when he woke up, he looked around, rolled over, and went back to sleep. It was pretty funny. The nurse couldn't get him to want to wake up. I guess he was really tired. He's been eating jello and slushies like crazy since then and acting like our normal little James.
Thank you so much for all your prayers and support through this. I know it was a little procedure and not a big risk or anything, but it's still hard as a mother to hand your child over to someone else and hope and pray he will be okay. I was blessed with faith and calm today and a spirit of peace. I am so grateful that all went well and James is healthy and happy.
(With Matthias before we left)

Talmage or Hannah Mae?
Totally making these after Wednesday.
Not to mention a new carseat cover, new bumpers, at least two more blankets, three or four pajamas (already have all that cute pink fabric), and a blessing dress. If the baby is a girl. If.
