Moving

The lease on our current home is up in August so (sparing you all the decision making details) we are moving 15 miles northwest to reduce Taylor's commute from 60 minutes to 20 minutes. We are very excited about the prospect of him being home at 5:30 instead of 6:00...for those with young children you know what a difference that 30 minutes can really make. And we're excited for it.

We are again going to be renting...due to the fact that a) we have an unstable job, b) we don't want to buy a house in Colorado for reasons which will remain unknown...=] (right?)

Our new home has a HUGE backyard...probably we have a 1/4 acre which is massive compared to our last two homes. Very excited about that and it's in a 1950s neighborhood so tall beautiful trees and all brick homes (standard in TX, not so standard in CO). The inside has been updated and is very nice. It's about the same size as our current home...the master is a lot smaller so Taylor and I are crowding together, but the boys' room is really big, probably bigger than the master. Only a one car garage, but we decided for the 20 minutes drive we'll take it. Tons of room downstairs for Taylor to have a woodworking workshop and now he'll have over an hour more a day in his life.

Already have James signed up for a new preschool (Kendrick Lakes) and Matthias in gymnastics. Talked to a couple members of the primary presidency and I think we're good to go. We move August 15.

James comments about the move...

"All the floor is wood so we can eat everywhere."

Me: I'm worried about you.
James: I'll just make new friends. I make new friends every time we move. In Texas I had Fencer (Spencer) and now I have Kylie.

One of Taylor's co workers (about 40 yrs old) was saying he and his wife have a combined total of 63 moves. We found this incredulous until I realized this will be my 19th move even having lived in the same house from 7 to 18. And James is on his 6th move. Only this time we get to move ourselves...

Good luck! We've done the moving thing a lot too and ALL have been on our own. Good luck to you and hopefully you will love the new place!

It sounds like a great move for you guys. A huge back yard, big trees, and some weather where you can actually enjoy it all! (At least until winter...)

A shorter commute is worth so much!

Moving...sigh.

I'm glad you guys have found a better place where Taylor can be home 30 minutes earlier. (I absolutely know what you're talking about here)

And a big backyard? Every kid should be so lucky. I am jealous of the mature trees.

Fun things to look forward to! It's funny that I often feel the itch to move just to clear my life of stuff. Enjoy!

I love James attitude by the way! Such a positive little guy!

Moving is hard work, but it's definitely worth it for a shorter commute and more space for the kids to play. Good luck!
